Alicia....your ideas for a more comprehensive newsletter are solid. I get the same comments from my readers -- I am playing a critical role in the information ecosystem in my own community.
I am posting my comment that made for the 8/13 -->We are back on the agenda for the boards. C4.
I wrote a comment and wanted to share it with you all. I hope you have a great weekend !
I am Vicechair of Ward 3 NAB. We really would like to have some more bite of being on the board. Yes, I understand that we review what has been presented for agendas. We can't bring an item to agenda. If we are to be part of Neighborhood and to gander more involvement with the public to either comment or attend we need to be able to bring also non planning issues brought. Since our CM attends every meeting its great way for the public to hear other items brought to the dais. Maybe some have concerns of parking violations, non profits that benefit the community such as Reno Gleaming. Not all planning issues affect some areas of the wards . For those who work and can't attend the main City mtgs this is a way to engage their concerns. It doesn't involve decisions just advisory as we are there for. That would or could reduce the number of ppl who attend and give public comment, meaning your day may not turn into a marathon. So many have no clue about what the planning commission has on the agenda. Maybe I might be a pipe dreamer on this but if the builder such as Wood Rogers doesn't come in and there is nothing on the agenda we don't meet. Not having them required seems not transparent as voters want to know what is being built or planned. We the members have some really great ideas that we would like to say what they are as an agenda. Having some more staff from the city would be good. Maybe having the planning division gives us some insight. Without having the heads meet with the City Manager Jackie Bryant we still feel kind undervalued. I love what I do as the members do since we are volunteering our time. Thank you.

I don't think a newsletter listing homeless numbers and developer destruction of affordable housing would be very interesting.
