I believe historic properties could offer an underutilized resource for affordable housing. No one should complain or feign concern about unhoused individuals and families in their community if they are not willing to share their neighborhood.
So besides your home and those of your neighbors, if your neighborhood also consists of parks and schools, do you believe these should be shared with the homeless? If shared as you suggest, do you believe these neighborhood places would remain safe and sanitary for neighborhood use?
I and my neighbors chose to work hard to earn money to buy our homes. Sharing with the homeless as well as ADUs would change neighborhoods such that with more people more problems (e.g. safety, sanitation, parking, etc.).
I am not interested in participating in an internet argument. I only shared my opinion. To answer your question, yes, I think public parks belong to the public and children living without stable housing should be allowed to attend public schools. Also, by definition, if they had affordable housing they wouldn’t be “homeless” anymore. Hope you have a great day.
This is an extremely important meeting and report. Full disclosure: I introduced Shane Phillips to Reno in early 2022. We look forward to the Barber Brief analyses going forward!!
I live in Newlands Historic district. I am strongly against ADU’s in our neighborhood

Are you allowing homeless individuals to live on your property?
I said share your neighborhood, not your property.
